Mental Wellness Program

Help when life gets complicated.

Caltech’s Mental Wellness Program provides free, confidential counseling and resources led by the Staff & Faculty Consultation Center (SFCC), with additional resources available through ComPsych.

What to Know

  • Your Mental Wellness Program is confidential. Whether you use the SFCC or ComPsych, no personal information about your participation is shared with your employer.
  • These resources are available to Staff, Faculty, Postdoctoral Scholars, and their dependents.
  • Through this program, you have access to:
    • Confidential support for emotional and mental well-being.
    • Work and lifestyle support for everyday challenges.
    • Legal and financial guidance (through ComPsych).
  • You might consider mental health support if you are:
    • Experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or loneliness, or feeling overwhelmed.
    • Navigating grief, loss, or major life changes.
    • Needing help with child or elder care.
    • Managing work-related stress or communication challenges.
  • Online tools and resources are available through ComPsych’s website, GuidanceResources® and GuidanceNowSM app, including articles, webinars, videos, and guides on wellness, relationships, work, and more. A well-being assessment can also help you build a personalized plan.
    • Additional free self-care tools are available through Koa Care 360.

What to expect and how to connect

Your Primary Resource: Staff & Faculty Consultation Center

If you contact the Caltech SFCC:

  • You will meet with a licensed counselor who can help you navigate work and personal concerns and connect you to resources. Counselors provide in-person, phone, and virtual sessions.
  • Appointments for crisis cases are available same-day, on-site.
  • Short-term support with a Caltech counselor is available at no cost.
  • After hours calls are returned the next business day.

Supplemental Services: ComPsych’s GuidanceResources®

If you contact ComPsych:

  • A trained intake counselor will help you schedule an appointment or connect you to resources.
  • Phone calls are answered 24/7.
  • You can receive up to five counseling sessions per person, per issue, per year at no cost.
  • Online tools and resources are available.
